A rare find! This French original 1-quart Singer Oil Can, would make a lovely decoration to any sewing room or den! The can has a screw lid on the top and is empty. This can contained No. 1 oil. In France, Singer sold No. 1, No.2, No. 4, and M.R. oil in these cans with the designation on the front.
These were the various oils Singer produced.
No. 1 Oil: Household sewing machines
No. 2 Oil: Low-Speed Industrial sewing machines
No. 4 Oil: For electric motors, transmitters, machine tools, transmission shafts, bench transmitters, motive power, etc.
M.R. Oil: Special for very high-speed sewing machines
This can is in good condition with some light rust.
